The movie has a few funny moments. You have to love a kid who wants to blow everything up. I'm just glad he doesn't live in my neighborhood. Every now and then, we all make mistakes and its hard finding your way back home again. How to deal with the situation at hand is what this movie is all about.
The movie is not about the creature. It's about the kids. The creature just adds excitement to the movie. The kids need to find their way around their own issue, and this creature gets in the middle of it all. Now they have to deal with the creature, and in so doing, they learn to deal with their situations.
The adults are no different. Because let's face it, we older people get everything wrong at times, and then we find others to blame it on. If we could just learn to face our own issues and deal with them, life would get simpler for us.
Considering this is Father's Day, I'll take advantage and go over a few things about fatherhood. I have three children with my ex-wife and three with my current. I think that qualifies me to speak a bit about fatherhood. Just one thing I want to say on the subject. If your child wants to say something, let them talk. Allow your child to explain before you make a decision. Sure kids play the game and try to get over on you, but they can surprise you sometimes if you give them the chance.
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there. Super 8 is worth watching. I give it 3 1/2 stars.
And remember… always stay in your write mind.
Three and a half stars, huh? I'll have to go see it! Happy Father's Day! :)
