A picture says a thousand words…

Are you trying to write something in the same room you've been writing in for many years? It's no wonder sometimes we get writers block. It's our mind's way of saying, get me out of here.

Any scenario your mind sees can trigger a story. That can be your vacation, honeymoon, picnic in the park, a night out on the town, or a drive through the countryside. Go through all your pictures and see what inspires a story in there. Even better go take new pictures in anyone of these scenarios I just described.

Let your mind take flight as you embark in a new adventure.
That is where they first met. She didn't know who he really was or what she was getting herself into, but it was too late. She had reached the point of no return and refused to let go.

He brought her to a hotel by the beach, and that's when everything starting going wrong. The mysterious people, meetings, phone calls, were invisible to her at first. The wondrous life and beauty he placed in front of her served as her distraction.

She remembers seeing him at the pool bar by the pool with the man that had been found dead. He denied ever knowing him, but she never forgot a face. Therefore, she knew better.

They found the man's body in the park where they first picnicked. That was also the place he asked her to meet him after the picnic, and he never showed. Was there some connection?

The struggle, the mystery, behind the dead man leads right to her. Now she's the murder suspect. No one knows who this man she's fallen in love with is or where to find him. He has disappeared and she is left behind with no alibi. During the entire episode, she kept popping up in the wrong place at the wrong time. How can she find him now?

There is a happy ending that sails away on this yacht. However, you need to write it, and if you haven't noticed all the intriguing parts are all missing. What you have here is the beginning of a plot template. My sole purpose is to show you how to look at things with a writer's eye. Take your vacation pictures and see if you can find a story like no other. Take a friend or neighbor's gossip and see if you can build an intriguing story. Just leave out the name and don't make it too obvious it's them. Become inspired by all that's around you and don't let it go to waste.

Oh, and that mysterious stranger in the pictures... Yeah that's me. So now you have a handsome stranger and all you need is a beautiful mistress. Ha,ha,ha...

Above all stay in your write mind.

I sort of feel like I'm writing the same thing over and over... and over. I'll take your advice and get a new perspective. :)

  5. I don't understand why I haven't been able to write well in the room I am currently in.

It should be perfect. The view. The open window. The canyon of books available and surrounding me.

I might blame the chair soon.
